AEC is currently providing construction management services for the expansion of Porta’s food manufacturing facility in Scarborough. The project will renovate the existing 40,000 SF Baxter Bakery building to suit Porta’s new operations and processes and meet Canadian Food Inspection Agency requirements for a ready-to-eat facility.

Approximately half of the existing facility is being demolished as part of the project. The expansion will include new process drains; removal of redundant equipment, insulation, and hangers throughout the plant; new walls and doors with proper protection to meet regulatory requirements; coordination of process equipment and refrigeration equipment; and renovations to an existing 4,700 SF office space to create a refreshed office space for 8-10 offices and a CFIA desk, as well as an employee wellness area for 40-60 employees including separate washrooms, change rooms, cafeteria, and storage areas.
