AEC provided Construction Management services to construct Corbec’s fourth Canadian manufacturing facility in Hamilton, Ontario. The new facility is approximately 103,000 SF on a 15-acre site. The industrial space houses a fully automated galvanizing system; 14 ft deep equipment pits; and office, cafeteria, and washroom facilities for the 100 people the plant expects to employ. The site itself contains its own retention pond and filtration gallery for all stormwater and process run-off.
AEC also coordinated all equipment process. Since the equipment is entirely automated, designers had to meet many specific criteria to make sure the equipment could function properly. There are extreme tolerance requirements for the automated conveyance system – less than an inch – and any variances can throw off the system.
Construction commenced on September 1st, 2020, and was completed in February 2022.
