AEC worked with Conestoga Meats to develop a new parking lot on their site to support their continued growth, while adding delineated pathways and additional illumination to maintain the safety of workers travelling to and from the building.
Working closely with the excavating contractor, all work was coordinated to ensure Conestoga Meats’ existing operations were not disrupted. This required our team to schedule which existing parking spots would be blocked off when to facilitate the lot expansion, as parking capacity had to be maintained for workers coming on and off shift throughout the day.
The proximity of the site to the Region of Waterloo International Airport also presented some unique challenges as lighting could not present a distraction for incoming and departing aircraft. All parking lot lighting and site illumination had to be full cutoff, meaning the luminaires could have no direct uplight and had to comply with glare requirements limiting the intensity of the light. Our team worked collaboratively with the electrical contractor to ensure the installed luminaires met both our client’s needs and these unique requirements.
